Meal prepping is the practice of preparing in advance the key elements of your meals or snacks. It is a smart meal planning method that helps give you a head start on the week while also helping you eat healthier and stress-free meals. It also helps with portion control, reducing food waste, and saving money. A win-win.
As Zoe Malin wrote in the piece, “Meal prepping allows you to “have everything available so you can be an automatic pilot” when you’re ready to eat a meal or snack, said Lisa Young, an adjunct professor of nutrition at New York University and a nutritionist in private practice. Instead of having to cook breakfast, lunch and dinner, you can reach into your fridge and pull out pre-made food, eliminating time spent standing over the stove or chopping ingredients. And since meal prepping involves cooking multiple servings of a dish or larger quantities of food at once, you’ll need containers to store everything in.”
One of the most important components of meal prepping (besides the food obviously!) is having the right containers that meet your needs. We are all different and have varied preferences so there is no “right or wrong” containers. We identify some of our favorites HERE.
