Hello,
Practicing portion control while savoring balanced portions is important, even when enjoying nutritious foods. It fosters mindful eating and helps to cultivate a positive relationship with food
Enjoying balanced portions and tuning into hunger and fullness cues are important for curbing overindulgence and mindless consumption.
Although healthy foods are generally lower in calories and rich in nutrients, excessive intake of foods high in fat, (including healthy fat!) can lead to a surplus of calories, hindering weight management efforts. This includes wholesome foods like avocado, olive oil, and nuts, which should be enjoyed in moderation to prevent weight gain. It’s also easy to overeat pasta and steak, in part because restaurant portions of these foods are so large.
My tips:
You don’t have to cut these foods out entirely; just be mindful of your portion.
Make wise choices. Avoid strict food restrictions, but remain conscious of portion sizes.
Moderation is the key to nurturing a healthy relationship with food!
Make smart choices. Don’t restrict foods yet be mindful of your portions.
For these easy-to-overeat foods, here are some healthy portion sizes to keep in mind:
-
Nuts: ¼ cup
-
Steak: 4 oz
-
Pasta: 1 cup
-
Olive oil: 1 tbsp
-
Avocado: ⅓ avocado
-
Nut butter: 1 tbsp
A final thought: yes, olive oil and nuts good for you. But more is not better.
Have a healthy week!
Warmly,
Lisa
