Hello,
During the dog days of summer, it is important to stay hydrated. It’s helpful to incorporate more fluids into your daily routine. This includes drinking more water and enjoying more refreshing–yet healthy–drinks. This is one of my favorite “mocktails” to make because the ingredients are super hydrating and refreshing.

Watermelon: With a whopping 92% water content, watermelon is the perfect addition to any beverage. Packed with essential nutrients like potassium, magnesium, and vitamins C and A, it’s a nutrient-dense delight. The powerful antioxidants, including lycopene and carotenoids, combat free radicals and reduce disease risk. Plus, lycopene may even help prevent certain cancers. Don’t forget the heart-healthy benefits from magnesium, potassium, and vitamin A.
Strawberries: Bursting with vitamin C, potassium, and fiber, strawberries support heart health and aid digestion. With 92% water content, they keep you hydrated too!
Cucumber: Nutrient-packed and low in calories, cucumbers are rich in antioxidants that fight chronic diseases. High water content (96%) keeps you refreshed and promotes regularity.
Mint: Add mint to your drinks for a boost of vitamin A, iron, and manganese. Its antioxidants protect against stress and potential health issues. Studies show it may even improve irritable bowel syndrome symptoms.
Here are the dEATS:
A few pieces of watermelon
A few pieces of peeled cucumber
About 4-5 strawberries
Handful of mint
Handful of Ice
– Seltzer
Mash the watermelon, cucumber and strawberries (you can use a blender or a fork)! Put all mashed ingredients into a cup and fill with seltzer (depending on how thick or thin you prefer), mint, and ice. Mix well and enjoy!
