Hello,
If you’ve ever felt like heart-healthy eating means giving up the foods you love, you’re not alone.
In this recent video, I share simple mindset shifts that can make all the difference—focusing on what you can add, not what you have to give up.
Heart health isn’t about saying “I can’t eat this.” That kind of thinking often feels restrictive and hard to sustain.
Instead, try asking: “What can I add?” or “What can I swap?” Small, positive changes can go a long way toward lowering cholesterol and supporting your heart.
Here are some simple, nourishing ways to get started:
Start your morning with oatmeal.
A warm bowl of oatmeal is rich in soluble fiber, which helps lower LDL (“bad”) cholesterol and supports heart health.
Add a fruit or vegetable to every meal.
Fruits and veggies provide vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and fiber that work together to nourish your heart.
Swap — don’t eliminate.
Rather than focusing on what to cut out, think about simple upgrades. For example, use olive oil in place of butter for more heart-healthy fats.
Include fatty fish 1–2 times per week.
Fish like salmon and tuna are rich in omega-3 fatty acids, which support heart health and may help reduce inflammation.
Sprinkle nuts on yogurt.
Adding nuts to yogurt boosts fiber, magnesium, and heart-healthy fats—plus it adds satisfying crunch and flavor.
At the end of the day, heart-healthy eating is about nourishment, balance, and enjoying foods that help you feel your best—not restriction.
